With the G37 at a more affordable price bracket than ever and a huge array of aftermarket parts available off the shelf, it’s easy to see why the G37’s popularity is increasing in the scene.

What is this guide for?

This guide has been created to help you find the perfect exhaust upgrade for your G37. We’ll be focusing on all aspects that you’ll be looking for to compliment your G-series perfectly.

For each exhaust, we also add our own comments. In addition, we have given a Drifted rating (1-5) based on features and price. We are considering budget, mid-range and high end exhausts in this comparison.

Our comment: This mid-price offering from Stillen brings offers a much cleaner look to your G-series. HKS Hi-Power G37 Exhaust

HKS Hi-Power G37 Exhaust

  • Manufacturer: HKS
  • Internal pipe diameter: Twin 60mm (2.4″)
  • Tailpipe configuration: Twin 120mm (4.7″) tips
  • Primary exhaust system material: 304 Stainless Steel with Titanium Tips
  • Value for money: ????
  • Purchase link: Buy your HKS Hi-Power G37 Exhaust at Enjuku Racing!

Our comment: The HKS Hi-Power exhaust is a Japanese classic and once again they’ve pulled it out of the bag with this work of art. Enjoy the subtle sounds until you plant your foot to the floor to let her roar. This is another great choice for those who are after the quieter option for daily driving. However, we doubt you’ll be able to resist hearing the sounds it produces as it screams its way to the redline!

Manufacturer description: “Inspired and designed from endurance and GT racing in Japan, HKS developed its Hi-Power Exhaust system for both turbocharged and naturally aspirated applications.”

“HKS has incorporated this new race inspired offset muffler and piping design into many street applications, which offers a greater flow and higher RPM power gains due to the less restrictive design. This is achieved by eliminating unnecessary bends for the straightest exhaust path.”

“For turbocharged applications, the large and smooth exhaust flow allows greater exhaust velocity for better mid-range boost response and high-RPM power. Naturally aspirated vehicles also benefit from greater exhaust flow capacity as engine tuning levels increase.”

Tomei Expreme Titanium G37 Exhaust

Tomei Expreme Titanium 370Z Exhaust

Our comment: Weighing in at an insane 13lbs (5.7kg) is Tomei’s offering, despite an extremely impressive 18.8kg weight loss, this single-exhaust system is perhaps not for everyone. If you’re purely after weight loss and performance, the Tomei is quite possibly the best choice for the money. However, with the G37’s body design made with twin exits in mind – having a single large Jap-style exhaust poking out the rear is an acquired taste.

Featuring far fewer bends than other offerings, the large diameter, high-flow design of the exhaust is fantastic for performance but not so great for those who are after a quieter drive.

Please note that this is the 370Z exhaust which Tomei says will fit, however we suspect it may require some small modifications. We recommend contacting the supplier to ensure correct fitment.

Manufacturer description: “With an overall dramatic performance improvement & weight reduction, breathe new life into your 370Z.”

“This Tomei Expreme Ti Exhaust system is truly a high-quality production part, for true competition use without compromise. Only the best Titanium grade materials are used in the production of the components. From the special racing layout design, created as straight as possible, to the high flow silencer, Tomei has poured their extensive knowledge of Japanese vehicles into this design. When you see and weigh the EXPREME Ti system, you will understand that this exhaust system has no rivals.”

“High-quality production, for true competition use without compromise. Only the best Titanium grade materials are used. From the special racing layout design, made as straight as possible, to the high flow silencer. We have poured our knowledge into it all. When you see our EXPREME Ti system, you can then understand that ours is unrivaled.”

Our comment: Boasting a subtle design with burnt tips, Invidia bring another very reasonable and extremely popular option to the market.

Although slightly louder than some of our earlier offerings, it is still tame enough to be a good highway cruiser until the deep growl unleashes an entirely different beast around the 2.5-4.5k rev range.

Manufacturer description: “The Invidia Gemini Exhaust is the latest in the Invidia line of beautiful exhaust systems that feature fully polished stainless steel piping with mandrel bent tubing, and one of the best sounds you will hear from any performance exhaust!”

Our comment: With arguably one of the best sounding options, ARK have listened to the people when designing their great-looking exhaust. As well as having the popular burnt tip option, there’s also the choice to go down the traditional stainless steel route. This exhaust features quiet cruising speeds which open up to deep intoxicating acoustics to show off that awesome VQ tone.

Manufacturer description: “The ARK “GRiP” exhaust system provides the serious enthusiast a combination of sound, style, and quality craftsmanship. • Manufacturer: Manzo
  • Internal pipe diameter: 57.15mm (2.25”)
  • Tailpipe configuration: Twin 102mm tip (4”)
  • Primary exhaust system material: Stainless Steel
  • Value for money: ???
  • Purchase link: Buy your Manzo G37 Exhaust on eBay!

Our comment: By far the cheapest offering from our list, this Manzo exhaust offers great value for money for those who are looking to go down the lower-budget route.

We can’t deny that the exhaust sounds great despite some drone noise and when fitted under the car, it certainly looks good too! If you are simply looking for a better flowing exhaust without being worried about perfect welds or running a name brand, this may well be a great affordable option for you!

Manufacturer description: “Manzo is built by a large big name performance tuning company, so you get a quality product but at an affordable price.”

“Manzo is designed to be a quality entry-level exhaust system that improves horsepower and torque while giving your car an aftermarket exhaust note that sounds great. Fast Intentions G37 Exhaust

Fast Intentions G37 Exhaust

  • Manufacturer: Fast Intentions
  • Internal pipe diameter: 64mm (2.5”)
  • Tailpipe configuration: Twin 114mm tips (4.5”)
  • Primary exhaust system material: Stainless Steel
  • Value for money: ?????
  • Purchase link: Buy your Fast Intentions exhaust here!

Our comment: This fantastic mid-range offering from US-based Fast Intentions is the first choice for many owners. Each exhaust is made in-house to order at their US factory to extremely high standards with great fitment. With an epic deep, throaty, exotic-sounding note, it’s easy to see why this is the go-to option for so many owners.

Our only downsides would be a slight drone in the upper gears and it perhaps sits a little lower than those who require high ground clearance would like. With a choice of tips available, great looks and an epic sound, it’s definitely one to consider.

Manufacturer description: “This cat back exhaust system is the premier upgrade for all G35/37 Sedan owners looking to maximize the performance from their VQ35HR 3.5L V6 or VQ37VHR 3.7L V6 engine.”

“Built as a direct OEM replacement, our exhaust system is easy to install with simple hand tools; no cutting or welding required. Our X Pipe is designed to increase low end torque and maximize power throughout the entire RPM band.”

“The exhaust note is unobtrusive at idle and cruising speeds; but comes to life at wide open throttle. With the addition of our cat back exhaust system you will improve the aesthetics of your vehicle with its sporty and classy appearance.”

  • Tailpipe configuration: Twin 115mm tips (Approx 4.5”)
  • Primary exhaust system material: STTI Titanium
  • Value for money: ????
  • Purchase link: Buy your PowerHouse Amuse Exhaust here!

Our comment: Weighing in at just 9.0kg, this incredible STTI titanium offering from Amuse is undoubtedly the unicorn of the G37 exhaust world. Despite being visually stunning insanely lightweight and providing an incredible soundtrack, this comes at a cost.

With prices starting at $3,295, expect to fork out an eye-watering $7,485 for the quad-exit alternative. If money is no object, this could quite possibly be the exhaust for the perfect finishing touch to your G37!

Manufacturer description: “The Amuse R1 Titan Extra STTI exhaust is yet another functional piece of art by Powerhouse Amuse. The System features 20.7 lbs weight savings over stock as well as 76.3mm piping diameter and 115mm x 2 exhaust tips.”

Tanabe Medalion Touring G37 Exhaust

  • Manufacturer: Tanabe
  • Internal pipe diameter: 60-70mm (2.36-2.75″)
  • Tailpipe configuration: Twin 115mm tips (Approx 4.5”)
  • Primary exhaust system material: Stainless Steel
  • Value for money: ????
  • Purchase link: Tanabe Medalion Touring G37 Exhaust

Our comment: The Tanabe Medalion Touring will be a fantastic option for G37 owners looking for the performance gains that come with an aftermarket exhaust, but not the excessive noise.

Many call the Tanabe the ‘Gentleman’s Choice’ thanks to its quiet sound yet impressive performance.

Using the all-new ‘continuous strand’ ADVANTEX packing material technology, they’ve managed to achieve high levels of efficiency while only reaching a maximum sound level of 93dB.

This provides a perfect system for those that are often driving on the highway and don’t wish to be disturbed by the ‘drone’ sound often associated with aftermarket exhausts.

Providing a deep, clean and tasteful exhaust note, we do not doubt that this quieter choice will still keep you grinning from ear to ear when desired!

Manufacturer description:“A refined level of performance and driveability is available in the MEDALION TOURING.”

“The elegant, well defined appearance of MEDALION TOURING is mature, and matches the artistry of a tastefully built, highly tuned machine.”

Our winner

Our winner is Invidia Gemini.

There’s no doubt that exhaust choices are mostly down to personal preference. Each person may prefer the look or sound of a certain exhaust and each one in this guide will see improvements over the restrictive stock mufflers.

We couldn’t ignore the specifications, features, quality of build materials and price point of our winner, the Invidia Gemini. Already an extremely popular offering among G37 owners, the value for money while providing an incredible soundtrack and great quality, we felt it just couldn’t be beaten.

Runner-up

The winner of our 350Z exhaust guide returns, this time as runner up. Despite it’s incredibly low price, insanely low weight and good looks, the Invidia Gemini ticked more of the correct boxes. The Tomei Expreme is loud, in your face and won’t suit everyone’s taste, but as far as money goes – it’s quite possibly the most tempting option!

g37 mods

Introduction

Nissan is best known for its sports-car offerings in the marketplace, and when they intended to target the luxury market, they knew they’d struggle with being taken seriously by those typically opting for the likes of their hugely-popular German rivals such as BMW.

So, the Japanese manufacturer went back to the drawing board and created an entirely new brand, which would be far better suited to this fresh target market, and Infiniti was born.

Gone was the refined, harsh ride that we know and love from Nissan, and in its place was style, comfort, and modern-day gadgets.

After the lesser-known first (P10) and second-generation (P11) G-series failed to impress the market, it was the 350Z’s sibling, the G35, which finally brought the attention to the brand that they’d set out to achieve.

The Infiniti G35 immediately scooped the Motor Trend Car of the Year award in 2003 before being nominated for the North American Car of the Year.

Not only that, but it also featured in the Car and Driver Ten Best list for two years running, throughout 2003 and 2004.

Infiniti had well and truly set the benchmark for the brand, and it quickly appealed to enthusiasts who were after a luxurious yet sporty car for everyday driving.

The G35 presented the perfect alternative to the 350Z, and as prices began to fall, it earned popularity within the drifting and stance scenes.

As time progressed, Infiniti would go on to announce the G35’s successor for the 2008 model year.

Enter the Infiniti G37.

With many feeling slightly deflated by the G35’s VQ35DE engine’s absent power, the G37 received the Nissan 370Z’s highly-regarded VQ37VHR engine upgrade, along with a fresh new look and even more additional gadgets than its now-outdated sibling.

Thankfully, the VIP styling, which maintained its appeal unique appeal from the Z-car, remained, and many believed that it looked better than ever before.

With the VQ37VHR pumping out 330 HP in stock form, it didn’t take long before the G37 was receiving a plethora of aftermarket upgrades, and in the blink of an eye, the G37 tuning scene had well and truly arrived.

Given that Nissan’s Fairlady has deservedly maintained its popularity within the drift scene over the years, the G platform offers the perfect alternative for those of you looking for something a little different from the ‘norm’ to shred up at the track.

Despite looking significantly different on both the interior and exterior, the G37 is exceptionally similar to the 370Z underneath the body.

One of the main differences between the two is weight, given that Infiniti wanted to provide superior comforts, which, as you’ve probably guessed, don’t go hand-in-hand with weight reduction.

However, shedding weight is easy enough by replacing or removing unnecessary luxuries for drifting, such as the insanely bulky powered eight-way heated seats for lightweight bucket seat alternatives.

Trust me – you’ll sure be glad you don’t have the slippery leather anymore when you opt for throwing the car sideways!

In stock form, the G37 is a fantastic car, but you’ll soon realize that drifting was the last thing on Infiniti’s mind during the design process.

But, fear not, as this guide will provide the perfect opportunity to turn your excessively comfy G-series into the ultimate track or street weapon.

Partly thanks to its similarities to the 370Z, the G37 has a vast array of aftermarket parts available off-the-shelf to unleash its true potential.

With the G37 becoming more reasonably-priced than ever, it’s the perfect time to build the G-series you’ve always dreamed of, and we’ll help you narrow down the ultimate products on the market to achieve your goals.

red infiniti g37 slammed stance airbags airride

There are seriously untapped possibilities in both the handling and power departments, and the possibilities are endless when upgrading your G37.

Maybe you want to do some simple upgrades to your daily, build a full-retard drift, track weapon, or just wanting to scrape your way to your local stance meet. We’ll cover everything you could need to know when it comes to finding the perfect products.

So, let’s take a look at the ultimate upgrades as we prepare to get your G pushing out the power it’s capable of, alongside handling like it’s on rails.

G37 Handling Upgrades

Although it’s easy to get tempted with chasing substantial power figures from the VQ37VHR right away, it’s easy to overlook handling upgrades, which we feel should always be the first consideration, alongside weight saving.

Despite the G37 receiving many handling upgrades over its earlier sibling, there’s still a lot of room for improvement, and this is where aftermarket suspension comes in.

You may be concerned that suspension upgrades sound like an enormous job to undertake, but that’s certainly not the case.

silver grey infiniti hood bay stance fitment slammed airride

You’ll have more work to do if you opt for lowering springs over coilovers since a coilover upgrade provides a convenient, all-in-one swap for Infiniti’s OEM suspension setup.

On the other hand, with lowering springs, you’ll need to remove the original springs, which can sometimes be a terrifying prospect before re-fitting the new ones.

G37 Coilovers

Although some may associate coilovers with slamming your car to the ground and scraping your way to the local meet, this certainly isn’t always the case.

Coilovers are fully adjustable, which allows for an impressive amount of suspension adjustment for the price.

For example, if you’re looking to improve your handling, we’d recommend dropping the G37 around 20mm on your coilovers, which is perfectly safe without flaring the arches on your G with the right wheel setup.

orange matte infiniti stance fitment wide

Doing so will improve the handling, reduce body roll, and allow you to dial in the correct suspension settings to maximize grip.

We highly recommend getting a professional to set up your tracking correctly, and you can easily choose between a drift, fast-road, track, or even drag setup.

If you’re planning to be improving your G37’s performance, you must be able to put the power down efficiently, and grip is particularly vital when it comes to drifting.

white infiniti g37 fitment stance hard parked

For those of you that haven’t got the budget for coilovers just yet, you can always consider lowering springs.

However, our experience has shown that most owners end up upgrading to coilovers shortly after, so we’d recommend going straight down that route to save doing things again later.

Unfortunately, ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ is undoubtedly valid for the tuning scene!

Drifted G37 Coilover Choice

KW Variant 3 G37 Coilovers

kw v3 variant 3 coilovers suspension

  • Manufacturer: KW
  • Levels of damping adjustment: 14
  • Construction type: Monotube
  • Spring rate front: Progressive spring (listed as 230lbs/in)
  • Spring rate rear: Progressive spring (listed as 230lbs/in)
  • Purchase link: KW Variant 3 Infiniti G37 Coilovers

In our G37 coilover guide, it was German suspension experts KW that provided the ultimate all-rounder when it came to coilovers.

G-series owners have been blown away by this offering from KW for some time, and the ability to provide excellent road comfort while also setting impressive lap times on the track leaves no questions on why owners are so impressed.

Manufacturer description: “Ready for a driving experience as unique as your car? A KW Suspensions Variant 3 coilover set offer you the independent compression and rebound damping setup you need”.

State-of-the-art technology from motor sports for more performance on the road. The separate and independently adjustable rebound- and compression damping allows for an individual suspension setup for different uses and preferences. The unique patented system with its two-stage valves allows a rebound damping adjustment (comfort) and a compression adjustment (driving dynamics) in the low-speed range while the high-speed range which controls the driving safety, is fixed“.

Drifted G37 Coilover Alternatives

bc racing br coilovers suspension

Although we don’t always recommend going with cheaper products, BC Racing’s BR series has proven itself time and time again and is a real bargain for G37 owners on a tighter budget.

They offer a firm but not crashy ride, which is still ideal for street use, yet more than capable for the money when you head to the track.

hks hipermax iv sp coilovers suspension

For those who want nothing but the best for your G, then look no further than the Hipermax IV SP from JDM tuning legends, HKS.

This option combines fantastic ride comfort, which is close to stock comfort levels, and superb handling.

These are certainly a competitor for the KW V3’s, and the decision may boil down to personal preference, particularly if you’re keen to stick with JDM products on your Z.

If you’re considering going down the lowering springs route, then we’d recommend taking a look at the Whiteline WSK-NIS002 Lowering Spring Kit.

For those of you that are interested in carrying out further handling upgrades, then we highly recommend taking a look at these additional handling upgrades to unleash the ultimate potential from your G37’s handling:

If you’re serious about drifting, then we highly recommend also taking a look into the Wisefab kit that’s now available for the G37, which will help you achieve insane amounts of lock and angle.

Assuming you’re not already familiar with what Wisefab kits have to offer, we highly recommend taking a look at them, particularly for those of you that are considering competitive drifting. However, you’ll want to make sure they’re eligible for the intended competition.

G37 Performance Upgrades

Once you’ve unlocked the most out of your G’s handling potential and perhaps removed some of the unnecessary bulky luxuries from the interior to take advantage of the free weight-saving benefits, it’s time to consider upgrading the power.

Sure, the VQ37VHR has a decent power output from the factory, but the G37 certainly isn’t a light car in stock form, so it’s time to upgrade the potential which lies in wait under the hood.

From bolt-on breathing mods, right the way through to high-powered turbo kits, we’ve got everything you need to know when it comes to extracting power from your V6 powerplant.

G37 Cold Air Intake

CAI’s are among the most common initial upgrades that G37 owners consider, thanks to their cheap price tag and simplicity of fitting.

A Cold Air Intake is a fantastic way to provide additional cooling and oxygen to your engine; this improves the sound and responsiveness while also freeing up a few extra horses.

Don’t expect any substantial power gains from installing a CAI, but it’s the perfect complement to any additional supporting upgrades you may be considering, from an aftermarket exhaust, right the way through to forced induction.

Drifted G37 Cold Air Intake Choice

Stillen Gen 3 Ultra Long Tube G37 Intake

stillen gen 3 long tube cold air intake infiniti

It was the Stillen Gen 3 Ultra Long Tube Intake Kit that took the win in our G37 Intake Guide.

Stillen claims 17.5hp gains from this CARB-legal kit on the VQ37 engine, which is the highest ‘proven’ (dyno) gains out there. We do feel that this may be a little ambitious, though, so take it with a pinch of salt.

However, regardless of the power claims, thousands of delighted owners have verified that this is the best choice out there, and we can’t argue that it looks fantastic when installed.

When combined with the typical quality that we’ve come to expect from the industry-leaders over the years, it’s easy to see why this CAI such a popular choice.

Having tested more than 50 different variations before coming up with their final design shows the attention-to-detail that provides such an excellent product for the market.

Manufacturer description: “STILLEN’s continuing dedication to getting the maximum performance from each vehicle has lead to the introduction of the new Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Intake. This intake has a radically new design that provides dramatically better power than any intake on the market for the VQ37 equipped vehicles. STILLEN’s R&D team went engineered and dyno tested more than 50 variations before being satisfied that this system is the best that can be made for the VQ37 engines”.

The new Gen 3 Ultra Long Tube Intake places two large K&N filters in front of the radiator. Strategic placement of the filters allow for optimum cold air flow and easy filter removal for cleaning. It features additional polished tubes that pass through the front core support, larger air filters than the Generation 2 unit. On some applications such as the G37 a urethane splash guard is included in the kit to help protect the filter. This is only necessary on vehicles with larger grill openings from the factory. All kits feature a system of varied diameter tubing and steps to maximize air velocity“.

Drifted G37 Cold Air Intake Alternatives

Takeda offers another fantastic alternative with its Stage-2 Pro Dry S Intake System, which provides a small saving over the Stillen kit, taking our Budget Choice Award.

If you’re determined to stick with the JDM route, then the HKS Racing Suction Kit won the Drifted Premium Choice award.

G37 Exhaust

A cat-back exhaust will undoubtedly be another one of the first considerations on your upgrades list, and quite rightly so.

An exhaust will not only improve the looks and performance, but it’ll also be a vital element when it comes to achieving your power goals.

Stock exhausts are restrictive, and since your engine performs as its peak when it can quickly extract the gases, a free-flowing exhaust is an essential requirement.

Aftermarket exhausts aren’t too bank-breaking, yet they’re easy to install, and they’ll be one of the most transformational upgrades you’ll make with regards to the looks, sound, and power.

Thanks to the twin-exit style from stock on the G37, it leaves an exciting array of upgrade options available to suit various requirements.

Once you’ve installed your CAI and cat-back, you’ll want to take a look at the Headers and Y-Pipe choices below to ensure optimum efficiency throughout your exhaust setup.

Drifted G37 Exhaust Choice

Invidia Gemini G37 Exhaust

invidia gemini dual cat back exhaust

  • Manufacturer: Invidia
  • Internal pipe diameter: 60mm (2.3”)
  • Tailpipe configuration: Twin 110mm tips (4.3”)
  • Primary exhaust system material: Stainless Steel
  • Purchase link: Invidia Gemini Infiniti G37 Exhaust

Invidia’s Gemini exhaust grabbed the win in our G37 Exhaust Guide.

Boasting a subtle design with burnt tips, Invidia brings another very reasonable and popular option to the market.

Although slightly louder than some of the alternative offerings, it is still tame enough to be a good highway cruiser until the deep growl unleashes an entirely different beast around the 2.5-4.5k rev range.

Manufacturer description: “The Invidia Gemini Exhaust is the latest in the Invidia line of beautiful exhaust systems that feature fully polished stainless steel piping with mandrel bent tubing, and one of the best sounds you will hear from any performance exhaust!”

Drifted G37 Exhaust Alternatives

If you don’t mind having a rather loud single-exit exhaust, then the Tomei Expreme Ti is an incredible choice for the money. We would personally opt for this one, but we understand that it’s not everyone’s taste.

If you’re on a budget, then the Manzo Dual G37 Exhaust provides good performance for the price, but we’d personally save up a few extra bucks for a superior product.

G37 Test Pipes

Test Pipes will completely replace the G37’s catalytic converters, which are incredibly restrictive in stock form.

However, be warned, these will not only make your car significantly louder, but they’re also likely to fail the emissions laws when it comes to inspection, as they’re illegal in most states and countries.

On the flip-side, these are a cheap and straightforward bolt-on modification that can often provide power gains of around 10hp.

There are certainly not many products on the market capable of providing as much power for a couple of hundred bucks.

Although they’re not entirely convenient, they’re definitely worth the effort when it comes to performance and ensuring that your VQ engine is capable of extracting the gases as freely as possible.

Drifted G37 Test Pipes Choice

Motordyne G37 Advanced Resonance Tuning (ART) Test Pipes

motordyne infinii advanced resonance tuning art test pipes

The Motordyne Advanced Resonance Tuning (ART) pipes deservedly take the win when it comes to test pipes for your G37.

Most test pipes are a simple connecting pipe, but Motordyne has gone out of their way and done countless hours of research to bring this unique product to the market with separate resonance chambers.

These are well-known for being quieter, as well as removing some of the less-desirable sounds that can often come with test pipes such as excessive rasp and drone to bring you the ultimate combination of performance and harmonics in a great-looking package.

Sure, they’re not the cheapest option, but these are the perfect solution for those who want the ultimate product for your G. Unsurprisingly, these are the most popular choice among owners.

Manufacturer description: “Through countless hours of research and development a new path has been explored in the never-ending quest for performance. A method of directly altering exhaust harmonics for enhanced performance and sound, Advanced Resonance Tuning (ART)”.

ART pipes for increased power and torque without the drastic increase in loudness normally associated with test pipes. ART pipes provide the quietest, smoothest, deepest sound of any test pipe while greatly reducing or eliminating rasp and drone. The difference in sound is not subtle. They’re not conventional test pipes. They’re ART pipes!

Drifted G37 Test Pipes Alternatives

The Drifted Budget Choice award went to the ISR Performance Stainless Steel Resonated Test Pipes, which offer decent quality and fitment. For a cheap resonated setup, you can’t go wrong with these.

Another bargain, which took the Runner-Up Choice in our guide, was the Berk G37 Non-Resonated Test Pipes.

They’re one of the cheapest offerings on our list, but thankfully they haven’t compromised on quality, which is why the Berk test pipes are the most popular non-resonated cats available.

Sure, they’re certainly going to be loud since they’re a straight-through pipe, but they’re well made and will sound incredible while also providing significant power gains.

G37 Headers

Headers complete the perfect exhaust setup for optimal airflow alongside the intake and cat-back exhaust, providing the final piece to your bolt-on exhaust puzzle when it comes to freeing up the untapped potential.

If you opt for long-tube headers, these will override your cats, which will once again potentially fail emissions testing.

For those who plan to go down the forced induction or NOS routes with your build, headers will be another essential addition.

Headers are notoriously challenging to fit on the G37, and we would expect the job to take around six hours, even with the right equipment and a qualified mechanic.

For that reason, we recommend considering heat-wrapping your headers before fitting to avoid the headache of potentially deciding to do so further down the line.

It may sound too good to be true, but heat wrap is proven to improve engine bay temperatures by up to fifty percent and is undoubtedly a worthwhile addition for your build.

Drifted G37 Headers Choice

Fast Intentions Long Tube G37 Headers

fastintentions long tube headers

It was Fast Intentions that took the Drifted G37 Headers Choice award in our G37 Headers guide.

FI is known for releasing some of the best products on the market, and their G37 long tube headers are no exception, providing impeccable quality alongside some of the most significant performance gains.

Manufacturer description: “This is the worlds first “production” long tube header for the Infiniti G37 Coupe. The premier upgrade for all G37 Coupe owners looking maximize the performance output of their VQ37VHR naturally aspirated or supercharged engine. With the addition of these headers all restriction created by the OEM exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters will be eliminated”.

Built as a direct OEM replacement, our long tube headers bolt right in; no cutting or welding required. The 1-5/8″ primary tubes are mandrel bent to maximize exhaust flow and efficiency“.

Drifted G37 Headers Alternatives

If you’re looking to save some cash for other mods, the Megan Racing G37 headers are a decent alternative, but given the amount of effort to replace them should you change your mind, it may be worth going with a premium option right away.

Speaking of premium, it doesn’t get much more so than this incredible offering from JDM legends, Powerhouse Amuse.

For all you lottery winners out there, this is the ultimate choice.

These guys are known for being titanium wizards, and this work of art weighs in at a ridiculous 2.7kg!

If you’re opting for the ultimate build, where the money is no issue, these will undoubtedly offer you incredible strength and durability to go with your power gains.

Make sure you pair these headers with their Titanium exhaust for the ultimate combination, which is guaranteed to leave any G-series enthusiast drooling.

G37 Forced Induction

Once you’ve installed the available bolt-on upgrades, yet you’re still not satisfied with the power, it’s time to consider going down the forced induction route.

There are two possibilities for the G37, and we put them head-to-head in our Turbocharger Vs. Supercharger guide to help you work out the best option for your needs.

We highly recommend checking out our guide before you make the significant decision, but either way, you’ll be unlocking substantial power gains with whichever method suits you best.

If you’re determined enough to make the most of your impressive VQ37 base, then forced induction is capable of potentially doubling the horsepower figures of your G37.

You will also need to consider that this will be putting the engine under twice the strain, so forced induction upgrades must get done professionally, ensuring that you’re using a well-maintained engine to get started.

Although the reliability is likely to be somewhat hindered, the fact that the VQ37VHR is one of the most reliable, bulletproof engines out there will undoubtedly work to your advantage. Just be prepared to carry out extensive internal upgrades if you’re planning to go chasing huge figures.

Drifted G37 Turbo Kit Choice

AAM Competition G37 Turbo Kit

aam competition twin turbo kit vq37vhr

It’s AAM Competition took the win in our G37 Turbo Kit guide.

US-based AAM introduced its offering in 2014 using new twin-turbos from their partnership with BorgWarner. The kit quickly became one of the most sought-after offerings and is possibly the most commonly found kit among G37 owners.

This kit produces impressive power figures of up to 500HP per turbo with OEM-style fitment. They have combined with reliability alongside impressive build quality, and it’s easy to see why the kit has maintained its popularity and praise.

AAM can pat themselves on the back for coming out with this fantastic G37-specific kit, which is the highest regarded option on the market.

Looking to get the most from your turbo upgrade? Make sure you also consider investing in a turbo jacket.

Manufacturer description: “The all new AAM Competition Infiniti G37 Twin Turbocharger System is the latest Forced Induction kit to hit the market. With innovative features, cutting edge technology, reliable operation and of course maximum power, the AAM Competition Infiniti G37 Twin Turbocharger System is the best forced induction system available for your Infiniti G37”.

Don’t settle for yesterday’s technology in today’s world. The AAM Competition Infiniti G37 Twin Turbocharger System sets a new standard for forced induction systems“.

Drifted G37 Turbo Kit Alternatives

If you’re looking for a single-turbo setup, then the STS Turbo Kit is an excellent alternative.

For those keen to stick with the JDM roots, the GReddy twin-turbo kit will offer the perfect solution.

Drifted G37 Supercharger Kit Choice

Stillen G37 Supercharger Kit

stillen supercharger kit infiniti

When it comes to supercharging your G37, look no further than the ultimate kit from Stillen.

We’ve taken an in-depth look into their kit in our G37 Supercharger Guide.

They have a wide range of options, so make sure you check out the perfect product to suit your needs over at Enjuku Racing.

The increasingly popular Stage 1 kit features twin Garrett GT2860RS turbochargers capable of an impressive 700+WHP with additional engine modifications.

If you’re hunting for even more power, then the Stage 2 kit, run by Chris Forsberg In Formula Drift, is rated for over 800WHP and Stage 3 at a proven 1,000WHP.

Manufacturer description: “STILLEN is proud to offer the STILLEN supercharger system for the Nissan and Infiniti VQ37 (370Z/G37/Q50.) This supercharger system took over a year to develop and involves some revolutionary designs”.

This supercharger system is developed to offer the customer easy upgradability and installation without requiring a hood replacement to complete the installation! With this supercharger system STILLEN bump the power output to over 500 horsepower! With lots of room to grow!

G37 Wheel Upgrades

We can understand that you want to get your car looking its best right away, and in all fairness, a set of aftermarket wheels will not only improve the looks of your G, but they’ll also provide weight-saving benefits while also potentially enhance the grip and handling.

Installing gigantic wheels to your G isn’t going to improve anything, but with a sensible setup, you’ll undoubtedly see benefits.

We bet that you’ll also end up turning around when you walk away from your awesome-looking ride more than ever, too!

Our recommendation when it comes to wheels for the G37 is to stick with a sensible 18 or 19-inch setup with low-profile tires.

We’ve generally found that a width of around 9.5”-11” suits the Z best, and you can also go for a staggered fitment, providing a wider wheel/tire combination at the rear to provide additional grip when it comes to putting the power down.

When it comes to wheel offset, you’ll want to aim for the +25 to +15 region, but we highly recommend looking around at the fitment of other G’s and asking on your local owners’ clubs before making the decision.

Alternatively, Fitment Industries has an incredible Infiniti G37 gallery with every fitment imaginable to help you make the perfect rim choice.

A dedicated track setup will differ wildly from those planning on driving low and slow to the local meet.

Some of you will also be open to rolling your arches for the ultimate fitment, while others will understandably want to keep the G as Infiniti intended.

We’ve written guides for some of our favorite wheels on the market, which we highly recommend checking out.

The Meister range is quite possibly the most sought-after, with some insanely wide and unique options, commonly in three-piece variations. If you’re looking for the ultimate setup for your G, then these are undoubtedly going to be a real head-turner.

G37 Wing/Spoiler

Unless you’re building a sleeper, you’re likely to want your G to stand out from the crowd.

If you’re going for a high-speed build or planning to drift competitively on fast tracks, then you may well benefit from a wing, but otherwise, they’re still likely to enhance the looks cosmetically.

There are some crazy spoilers/wings out there on the market, and we feel that our selection will be sure to provide the perfect choice for your needs.

Drifted G37 Spoiler Choice

Liberty Walk G37 Rear Wing

liberty walk performance rocket bunny rear spoiler

Our favorite Infiniti G37 is the subtle Liberty Walk design, which sets the rear-end off nicely, and blends perfectly with the full Liberty Walk G37 bodykit.

JDM legends LB Works are known for their wild designs, which provide the highest quality while completely transforming your G’s look.

If you want to stand out from the crowd, this provides the perfect opportunity to do so.

Manufacturer description: “LB WORKS is known to be the most High-end brand within the LB PERFORMANCE body kit line. The LB WORKS philosophy was based similar to the 70s Nissan Works race team where lowered over fender sports car were common”.

LB WORKS concept was to combine the idea and apply it to modern Supercars. All of Liberty Walk s customization is designed to complement the original body line. By doing so, Liberty Walk aims to take ordinary model to the next level, giving a top-notch, unique styling to each vehicle“.

G37 Additional Upgrades

Now that you’ve got your G37 looking, performing, and handling to the best of its abilities, it’s time to consider the other options that you may have neglected up until now.

Our Double Din Headunit guide will help you find the perfect replacement for the stock stereo. With the G37 not getting any younger, this is the ideal way to keep up with the latest technology.

If you’re serious about your drifting or racing, then you’ll soon realize that the stock steering wheel isn’t ideal for fast-paced action, so you’ll want to explore the best steering wheels on the market.

Before you start throwing down your G sideways, a hydraulic handbrake is going to make the art of drifting much more convenient.

Once you’ve got your wheel and hydraulic handbrake sorted, it’s time to get rid of the bulky stock seats for some supportive, lightweight replacements with our Best Racing Seat offerings.

For those of you that are serious about your drifting or racing and are considering competing, you’ll soon need to consider racing gloves, racing shoes, a racing suit, and a racing helmet.

Conclusion

As you can see, there’s an insane amount of potential to be had from the G37, and we hope that we’ve helped you with your G-series upgrade needs in this guide.

With the available products, we have no doubt that you’ll soon be creating the ultimate G, and we hope that you’ll share the outcome with us once it’s complete!

Despite the VQ37VHR engine providing a fantastic boost over Nissan’s previous VQ35 engines, it’s certainly no secret that there’s plenty of untapped potentials that lie in wait for the G37.

Breathing mods are the essential upgrades when it comes to getting your engine flowing efficiently, which is vital for achieving optimal performance from your 3.7-liter V6 powerplant.

Why should I consider aftermarket headers?

Although the first considerations for breathing mods should typically be intake and exhaust upgrades, you’ll then be looking for the next piece of the puzzle, which is where aftermarket headers can provide a fantastic improvement.

Z1Motorsports have provided this great video explaining the benefits of their headers:

When exhaust gases leave your engine, headers are the first port of call when it comes to the extraction process, and their purpose is to release the gases as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Aftermarket headers allow higher flow than the stock equivalent that Nissan provided with the VQ engine, mainly thanks to their enlarged internal diameter.

Research and development with aftermarket headers have generated significantly improved efficiency with their tried-and-tested designs, alongside utilizing lightweight materials for the ultimate weight-saving benefits.

Not only are there some rather substantial performance gains to be had, but you’ll also noticeably improve the acoustics of the already-glorious sounding VQ engine in the process.

For those of you that are thinking of going down the forced induction route on your G37, whether it’s a turbo or supercharger setup, headers are crucial, as you certainly won’t be maximizing the potential on offer with the stock headers.

The same applies to those of you that may be considering integrating nitrous (NOS) into your setup further down the line.

Short Tube vs. Long Tube Headers

Short tube headers are known as “shorty’s” or “shorties” in the tuning scene, and these are typically the most inexpensive option.

These are often best for providing low-end torque, which can often make them a popular choice for those looking for headers for your daily-driven street setup.

When it comes to sound, short tube headers typically provide a more aggressive note under load.

Nissan’s stock setup already integrates a short tube setup, and although several of the aftermarket companies in our list have provided an improved flow, they don’t typically offer gains as impressive as the long tube headers.

One of the main benefits of short tube headers is that you can retain the cats, which will appeal to owners in states where emission legislation could pose an issue.

For maximum gains from shorties, you would want to use them alongside test pipes or high-flow cats and swapping out when necessary, which can be more convenient when it comes to testing time.

Long tube headers are typically the preferred choice for maximum performance and track use.

Long tube headers eliminate the cats, bolting up directly from the engine to your cat-back system for the ultimate free-flowing capabilities of your exhaust gases.

Due to its free-flowing abilities, this allows for the maximum power potential to be achieved, particularly in the upper end of the power band.

You can typically expect a more exotic-sounding engine note from the long tube headers instead of the deeper growl we would typically expect from the short tube.

Due to their design, long tube headers will almost always provide the more substantial power gains of the two choices.

Fitting your G37 headers

One of the primary considerations with G37 owners when it comes to headers is whether they should install them or get a reputable shop to do the job instead.

You may be thinking this sounds a little excessive, but to someone inexperienced, swapping out the headers on a G37 can be a more substantial task than on most cars.

Short tube headers are the more convenient option of the choices when it comes to installation, but it’s still a rather large task that will require the right tools, and even then, it will most likely involve a fair bit of swearing.

We would expect installation time to take around 4-6 hours for G37 headers.

Before installing, we would always ensure the optimal lifespan of our shiny new headers with exhaust wrap, as this isn’t something you’ll be able to do once the headers are attached to your G.

If you’re keen to see what the job entails, then this excellent DIY guide will show you everything there is to know:

Do the G37 headers fit the G37X and G37S?

Due to the AWD layout, these models have a limited choice for headers, but thankfully, two of the best options available will fit the G37S and G37X models.

Infiniti G37 Header Selection

Now that we’ve explained everything there is to know about which headers are going to suit you best, its time to put each setup head-to-head to help you choose the perfect headers for your G37.

Fast Intentions G37 headers

fast intentions

Our comment: Fast Intentions are well known for releasing some of the best products on the market. Their Infiniti G37 long tube headers are certainly no exception, providing incredible quality alongside some of the largest performance gains.

These were the first headers released for the G37, and they are still quite possibly the most popular choice out there with many delighted long-term owners.

Thankfully, this also represents the perfect choice for G37S and G37X owners, thanks to their flawless compatibility.

Manufacturer description:This is the worlds first “production” long tube header for the Infiniti G37 Coupe. The premier upgrade for all G37 Coupe owners looking maximize the performance output of their VQ37VHR naturally aspirated or supercharged engine. With the addition of these headers all restriction created by the OEM exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters will be eliminated“.

Built as a direct OEM replacement, our long tube headers bolt right in; no cutting or welding required. The 1-5/8″ primary tubes are mandrel bent to maximize exhaust flow and efficiency. In addition, we’ve designed these headers to be firing order specific to maximize performance“.

Z1 Motorsports G37 headers

z1

Our comment: Z1 Motorsports has utilized the design of the discontinued ‘Momentum’ headers, to bring arguably the best short headers to the market. These are exceptional quality and a fantastic option if you have emissions concerns.

Short headers typically produce less power, but these are well known for their ability to keep up with the long tube variations, and owners have claimed to achieve up to 16whp gains.

They do note that the driver’s side motor mount bracket will need to be cleared, so it may be worth considering if these are on your radar.

Manufacturer description:Z1 Motorsports VQ Performance Headers are constructed with 1 3/4″ 16 gauge 304 stainless steel with 3/8″ flanges to prevent warping. The use of back purge TIG welding and mandrel bends creates the strongest headers with the most efficient airflow“.

They feature equal length runners and merge style collectors for increased scavenging. The materials and craftsmanship are impeccable. Z1 headers are the nicest headers available for your VQ Powered G“.

PPE Engineering G37 headers

ppe engineering

Our comment: PPE Engineering brings another fantastic addition to the market with its popular long tube headers. We would say these are almost as popular as Fast Intentions and once again feature superb quality with excellent long-term results.

One of the best things about the PPE offering, which could well make it tempting, is that they include ceramic coating for free to keep your engine temperatures down while increasing power alongside corrosion protection.

These represent a fantastic alternative for G37S/G37X owners if the Fast Intentions headers aren’t what you’re after.

Manufacturer description:The PPE 370Z/G37 long tube headers are designed for maximum power. Testing on a 2010 370Z Nismo showed a 23whp gain on a completely stock car. Excellent gains were also seen on the base 370Z and G37“.

Evolution Performance Coatings polished ceramic coating comes standard and adds good looks along with thermal barrier properties that increase power and lower engine bay temps. They are also a great protection against corrosion“.

Megan Racing G37 headers

meganracing

Our comment: Megan Racing brings one of the cheapest kits on our list, but does it come with quality? Megan Racing often has a negative reputation in the tuning industry; however, these claims can often be false or exaggerated.

Megan Racing has sold quite a few of these headers, with many happy owners. We’re not sure about their longevity, and since it’s such a huge job to swap them out, we would perhaps consider going with one of the more tried-and-tested methods.

With that being said, if you have the time, the tools, and you don’t mind taking a small risk, these headers may well be a bargain!

Manufacturer description:Megan Racing Stainless Steel Headers are made of thick T-304 Stainless Steel and are mandrel bent to form and fit your particular application with the best performance results possible while the thick flanges and strong welds prevent cracking and offer long lasting durability“.

These Headers or Turbo Manifolds help your engine maximize its performance by allowing the exhaust gasses to flow more efficiently to gain power and performance“.

Motordyne G37 headers

motordyne

Our comment: They’re in the higher price bracket, but that hasn’t stopped many owners opting for Motordyne’s unique Long Tube design. With this excellent quality kit, they’ve included high flow cats to keep the noise levels down and help with emissions.

This kit may require a small o2 sensor cable modification, but other than that, it’s a solid choice.

Manufacturer description:Motordyne Engineering - Infusing rocket science and aerospace technologies into automotive performance parts, innovating faster, more powerful and higher quality performance components to aerospace standards. High performance quality parts for Nissan and Infinitis“.

For the past 5 years, Motordyne had successfully earned its reputation as delivering quality, performance and reliability. Through countless independent dyno reviews from satisfied customers, we take the expectation of our power hungry enthusiasts to a higher level of trust and confidence“.

Fujitsubo G37 headers

fujitsubo

Our comment: The first of the Japanese tuning houses arrives, and it’s Fujitsubo that brings their flawless quality to the market with this fantastic, reasonably priced long tube option. These headers provide impressive gains within the mid-power range.

When ordering, ensure that you are getting the correct LHD or RHD variation.

Manufacturer description:Fujitsubo’s spirit is to “produce the highest quality products”. This has not changed since Fujitsubo was first established in 1931. This spirit does not only pertain to creating highly efficient and high quality exhausts and manifolds, but it also applies to our customer’s satisfaction“.

This is the reason Research and development is performed with people, motor vehicles, society, environment etc, all thought as one, to create a product through diversity“.

Central 20 G37 headers

central 20

Our comment: There’s very little to go on with regards to Central 20’s JDM offering, and this certainly is one of the rarer alternatives for G37 owners. From the pictures we’ve seen, they look similar to the Z1/Momentum shorties, which is undoubtedly a good thing.

Central 20 is known for being meticulous in their fabrication processes and quality with beautiful welds. If you’re looking to feature some different parts on your build to the norm, this could well be the perfect option, but be prepared to pay the price.

Manufacturer description:Central 20 is the lifework of director/president Haruhiyo Yanagida, also known as ‘Z of Yanagida or Z-Master’“.

After having great success as a driver in the late 60’s and early 70’s Central 20 was established in 1975 focusing specifically on the Fairlady Z“.

MCR G37 headers

mcr

  • Manufacturer: MCR
  • Design: Long Tube
  • Fitment: Infiniti G37
  • Value for money: ???
  • Purchase link: Discontinued

Our comment: The second option in our JDM classics range is from MCR. Once again, there’s no doubt that it’s an absolute work of art, but it does come at a price. These are more of a mid-length option, similar to Motordyne, and could be great for those that will potentially be considering high-flow cats.

For those of you with deeper pockets that want a unique product for your G37, we have no doubt MCR will be a great option, with its stunning design and traditional Japanese quality.

Manufacturer description:Matchless Crowd Racing (MCR), based in Saitma, Japan has grown to become a well known name throughout Japan and the world“.

Demo vehicles in distinctive MCR red have set benchmarks in quality and performance“.

Amuse Titanium G37 headers

powerhouse amuse

Our comment: Once you’ve stopped drooling and being stunned by the price, we introduce our most expensive offering, and we just couldn’t leave Amuse off our list. These guys are known for being titanium wizards, and their latest work of art weighs in at a ridiculous 2.7kg!

If you’re going for the ultimate build where the money is not an issue, these will undoubtedly offer you tremendous strength and durability to go with your power gains.

We would love to see these headers paired with their Titanium exhaust for the ultimate combination.

Manufacturer description:The R1 Titan Exhaust Manifold features full titanium construction for strength and durability as well as extreme weight reduction“.

Powerhouse Amuse’s exhaust manifold weighs a mere 2.7kg over the oem 7.8kg“.

DC Sports G37 headers

dc sports

Our comment: DC Sports has produced their new updated and revised design for their headers, which now look fantastic in polished stainless steel.

These are 50-stage legal, which may well be appealing to those looking for a convenient option for local emissions laws.

These come cheaper than most, but we believe that there are better options on the market for a little extra. However, the CARB legislation could make them a tempting proposition for some owners.

Manufacturer description:Dyno tuned and tested for maximum performance. Comes in 100% 304 polished stainless steel (including flanges). CNC mandrel bends with TIG welded fittings deliver perfect fit“.

Equal length primary piping ensures optimum tuning for more power across rpm range. Unique merge collector design“.

OBX Racing Sports G37 Headers

obx racing sports

Our comment: If you visit your G-series owners clubs, you’re likely to be met with negativity initially when you mention OBX headers.

However, if you take the time to look deeper, several owners are pushing out substantial long-term power figures with these headers.

One, in particular, is using nitrous with the OBX headers, and they’ve provided flawless performance for several years.

With all the legit examples we could find, the fitment also appears to have been on-point.

These appear to be a copy of the Fast Intentions kit at a fraction of the price, and although we’re not keen on copies/reps, we can see the appeal with the OBX for those on a budget.

Manufacturer description:OBX Racing Sportsℱ offers an extensive range of high quality aftermarket automotive products for imports and domestic vehicles“.

OBX sets and maintains the industry’s high expectations by using applicable highest grade materials and latest machinery along with advanced cutting edge manufacturing technologies“.

ISR Performance G37 Headers

isr performance

Our comment: Despite limited information from owners of the ISR Performance headers, they’re the cheapest long tube headers in our guide.

With a low price point, these headers could potentially have a lot to offer, and we’ve only awarded them 3* due to a lack of feedback, combined with the general mixed opinions on ISR Performance products.

304 Stainless steel has been used for the pipework, with a High Ground Clearance feature that places the collector in a position to maximize ground clearance is a great idea.

Our main issue is the hassle of replacing the G37 headers should a problem arise, so it may be worth going with a more reputable option to avoid a potential headache further down the line.

Manufacturer description:The ISR Performance Long Tube headers for VQ35DE/HR are designed to replace your factory header and catalytic converter. These long tube headers are constructed with 304 brushes stainless steel and heavy duty flanges“.

Designed with a stepped primary, these headers are built to retain as much low and mid range torque as possible while allowing for good top end horsepower gains as well“.

Sure, it’s a bit of a gamble when it comes to installing budget headers on your G due to the installation effort, but since we’ve seen long-term usage with both forced induction and nitrous, we feel that they’ve stood up to the challenges well.

If you’re looking for the cheapest, then the ISR Performance may suit you even better at an extremely reasonable price point, but since we can’t find much real-world experience, we’d stick with a safer option.

Despite playing a large role in Nissan’s luxury vehicle division, Infiniti’s G37 has also taken the aftermarket tuning world by storm and provides an epic alternative to the Nissan 370z platform for those that prefer to travel in luxury and comfort. (Right?!)

Although some of you may well be enjoying the perks of luxury travel, there’s no question that producing a few extra horses under the hood is always a bonus.

With a CAI, you’ll be bolting on a brand new intake to your V6 VQ powerplant to allow for maximum airflow, improving both the sound and performance departments. If bling is your thing under the hood, there are also super shiny options for you too!

There’s a wide variety of products on the aftermarket intake scene for G37’s, and we’ll be covering the full scale of the intake selections on the market in this guide to help you find the perfect option for your needs.

If you’re worried about how difficult it’s going to be to fit your intake, take a look at this guide from ‘George Nava’, as he installs the ‘Drifted Choice’ Stillen Gen 3 kit.

Although this kit provides the best performance gains, it’s also the trickiest to fit, so if you’re looking for something easier, then there are plenty of alternatives available.

Another highly sought-after choice comes from Takeda, and unlike the Stillen, their option requires no trimming inside the bay to fit. ‘RoviraES’ compares the stock intake to his shiny new Takeda in this video.

Since you’re considering a CAI, why not take a look at our other tuning guides here at Drifted? We’ve put some of the most popular G-series upgrades head-to-head to help you build the perfect G37!

An aftermarket exhaust is going to be the perfect compliment alongside your brand new CAI. Combining these two bolt-on modifications will completely transform the sound and performance of your G-series. To complete the look, you’ll want to grab yourself a set of coilovers to slam your G-series with the pimpin’ ride height it deserves!.

If you’re planning on going wild with your build, then forced Induction is undoubtedly going to be the perfect route. We’ve put the best supercharger and turbo kits head-to-head to help you achieve the craziest power gains imaginable from your VQ engine!

Infiniti G37 intakes

For now, let’s take a look at the best cold air intake kits on the market for your G37.

To find out more about any of these products, simply click on the product name or photo.

Jim Wolf Technology Dual Pop Charger G37 Intake

jim wolf technology infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: JWT has released some fantastic products to the G-series market, and their Dual Pop Charger Intake System has become a popular choice over the years.

This kit is one of the ‘short ram’ options, which means that it places the intakes a little closer to the engine than we’d like, which means it’s somewhat limiting the true potential of the cold air gains directly from the front of the car.

There are options available to reduce the downside of this, such as heat shields and reflective tape. However, we prefer the long tube options to get the most impressive gains.

Despite that, this kit has gained plenty of delighted fans over the years. You can expect some noticeable sound improvements, especially when paired with an exhaust, to allow the engine to scream!

As for performance, there may be a few additional horses ready to be unleashed, JTW claims 6.5-10hp, but the main gains are going to be in the looks and sound department for this kit.

Manufacturer description:In 2007 Nissan drastically improved the VQ intake system by adding an extra throttle, so the question was, is there any room for improvement? After a full year of testing JWT got the answer, “YES”, but only with the most efficient Pop-Charger Venturi inlets and hood-sealed heat shields.

In addition to a 6.5 to10 WHP improvement, the tone of the engine due to the dual 6” venturis is definitely the most beautiful sound ever heard from a VQ engine!

Takeda Stage-2 PRO DRY S G37 Intake System

Our comment: This is undoubtedly up there with the best kits on the market and features a unique design that utilizes just one large filter instead of the typical dual-design.

Takeda claims that this intake produced 15hp and 16ft/lb gains with 35% increased airflow over the OEM factory intake.

The main reason that many people opt for this kit over the ‘Drifted Choice’ Stillen G3’s is that there is absolutely no cutting involved, even though the cutting is extremely minimal with the Gen 3’s, so they’re well worth looking at.

Many Gen 3 owners claim that the bending in the pipes to avoid the cutting means that the Gen 3 is capable of increased airflow over this option.

Although many internet forum wars have happened over both of these kits, the primary decision you’ll need to make between the two is whether you’re willing to carry out some trimming to your OEM parts in exchange for the ultimate performance.

Manufacturer description:This Takeda performance air intake system uses a unique dual flange filter design engineered to maximize surface area and flow. In recent testing this Takeda “Attack” cold air intake produced 15 horsepower and 16 lbs. x ft. torque, while outflowing the factory intake by 35%.

The placement of the unique single air filter specifically designed to fit flawlessly in the area in front of the radiator guarantees a supply of cool, high pressure fresh air for maximum power gains. The Takeda philosophy of “no cutting or drilling” is maintained with this intake system, as flexible high resistance silicone couplings are used to pass through existing openings in the radiator core support. Whether for street or race, this is the ultimate intake system for the G37.

Stillen Gen 2 G37 Intake

stillen gen 2 long tube infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: Stillen provide arguably the best G37 kit on the market with their Gen 3, but unfortunately, their Gen 2 falls a little short of the mark.

After undertaking over 50 revisions of their product in the quest to build the perfect intake, which they feel they have achieved with their Gen 3 kit, this went on to supersede the Gen 2.

This upgrade meant that the Gen 3 has longer piping which reaches to the coolest point at the front of the car. Although this Gen 2 kit is classed as a ‘Long Tube’, it’s closer to the short ram options compared to the Gen 3.

The positive of this is that you’re not required to remove your front bumper, and should you need to access the filters, then this makes it far easier to do so. However, this does come at the expense of performance, where the Gen 3 will undoubtedly provide several extra horses.

Although this CARB-legal kit is impeccable quality, we’d instead reap the benefits that the Gen 3 offers.

Manufacturer description:For those With a Dual Throttle Body G37 owners who want improved performance with a show quality shine, we’ve introduced our Gen 2 Long Tube Intakes. We replaced the restrictive factory air boxes with two (2) AEM dry filters.

These filters are designed with an integral velocity stack and attach to our newly designed polished aluminum long tubes. Replacing the factory intake tubes with the STILLEN design adds additional horsepower, and a great look for the engine bay.The filters sit inside custom-fitted urethane intake boxes, which ensure no hot engine compartment air gets sucked into the intake tract.

Stillen Gen 3 Ultra Long Tube G37 Intake

stillen gen 3 long tube infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: You’ve heard us speaking about Stillen’s Gen 3 kit throughout the guide so far, and quite rightly so, as this is arguably the most exceptional choice available for your G37.

Yes, it requires minimal trimming to ensure the perfect fit, and if that’s not something that you’re willing to do, then an option like the Takeda above is likely to be perfect for you.

Stillen claims 17.5hp gains from this CARB-legal kit on the G37, which is the highest ‘proven’ (dyno) gains out there.

Thousands of delighted owners have verified that this is the best choice on the market right now, and it also looks fantastic when installed, combined with the typical quality we’ve come to expect from the industry-leaders over the years.

Having tested more than 50 different variations before coming up with their final design, this shows the attention-to-detail that goes into providing such an impressive product for the market.

In our opinion, this is the ultimate product for performance improvement, and we do not doubt that it’ll leave you grinning from ear-to-ear.

Manufacturer description:STILLEN’s continuing dedication to getting the maximum performance from each vehicle has lead to the introduction of the new Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Intake. This intake has a radically new design that provides dramatically better power than any intake on the market for the VQ37 equipped vehicles. STILLEN’s R&D team went engineered and dyno tested more than 50 variations before being satisfied that this system is the best that can be made for the VQ37 engines.

All kits feature a system of varied diameter tubing and steps to maximize air velocity.

HKS Racing Suction G37 Intake

hks racing suction infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: For those of you that love your premium JDM goodies, HKS offers their Racing Suction Kit to the premium end of the market.

This kit does come with a fairly substantial price tag, and due to the location of the filters, you’re unlikely to experience the same gains as you would from the Gen 3 kit above.

If you’re looking to show off your parts under the hood, then this is one of the better options out there.

Other benefits from this HKS kit is that it looks fantastic, requires no trimming, and is convenient to install.

It’ll certainly earn you some JDM scene points, but we’d personally be looking to add some heat shields to this setup to avoid sucking in the warmer temperatures.

Overall, a brilliant alternative option for the market, but we feel that more can be had for your buck with Stillen’s Gen 3.

Manufacturer description:Opt for the high-end intake kit from HKS : the Racing Suction. It replaces the stock intake hoses and air filter for maximum filtration without compromise, removing the original air filter box. Installation is simple as it is “plug & play/bolt on”, without any modification necessary.

Each kit comes with a high performance “mushroom” filter (up to 30% increase in air flow), hoses and aluminium brackets specially adapted for your vehicle, and all necessary accessories for installation (joiners, clips, bolts, etc.). The rigid aluminium hoses are designed to offer minimal pressure loss and help your boost pressure increase quicker. Indeed, the stock rubber hoses often contract with the vacuum created by the compressor, severely reducing performance.

Cosworth High Flow G37 Filter

cosworth high flow g37 air filter

Our comment: Cosworth is certainly no newcomer to the tuning scene. You’re most likely going to recognize them from their Ford tuning days, but let’s just say that these guys know a thing or two when it comes to maximizing performance!

Although this is a panel filter rather than a full kit, this is the perfect upgrade for those of you that wish to keep the OEM look and feel to your car, simply by upgrading the stock airbox filters.

Cosworth claim that these filters can provide up to 10% reduced restriction over your stock filter, which will undoubtedly offer a noticeable increase.

For an OEM intake, Nissan/Infiniti did a decent job and it provides sufficient airflow for basic everyday needs, even if it does provide some restriction.

Although you’d reap further benefits by opting for a full aftermarket kit, this panel filter is a worthy alternative for those of you that want to keep the OEM look and don’t fancy spending too much cash.

Manufacturer description:Cosworth Performance Air Filters are constructed from a proprietary synthetic, non woven single layer, pleated polyester filter media that requires no oiling. For an OE like fit, the filter housing is injected molded from High Impact Polystyrene or Polypropylene Each Cosworth air filter has been engineered to fit the vehicles original air box providing a true cold air supply to the engine.

Cosworth Performance Air Filters also provide increased air flow when compared to original equipment air filters.

Takeda PDS Stage-2 Polished Short Ram G37 Air Intake System

takeda dual infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: Having previously reviewed the hugely popular Takeda intake above, they also offer this short ram intake for those of you that are looking for looks and convenience over performance.

Similarly to the previous short ram intakes we’ve reviewed, these are once again not going to be capable of providing the same cool air as the long tube options on the market.

However, if a short ram ticks the right boxes for you, then this kit would undoubtedly look good under the hood, and Takeda are known for their excellent quality. In that case, it could be a perfect choice!

Manufacturer description:The Takeda Retain Intake is a short ram air intake intake system. In recent testing this intake produced 9hp and 8lbs. x ft. of torque. Takeda intakes are constructed out of lightweight clear-coat anodized tubing for maximum air flow and a great style.

Each intake uses a large 360 degree high flow PRO Dry S air filter for maximum flow, filtration and convenience. The PRO Dry S air filter requires no oils and cleans with simple soap and water. Takeda intakes come complete with all tubing, filters, couplers and hardware for an easy installation. Complete installation in 40 minutes or less.

Flowmaster Performance G37 Air Intake – Delta Force

flowmaster performance infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: Flowmaster has put an extensive amount of research into providing one of the best, and most popular short ram options on the market.

With substantial heat shields, this means that you get the convenience of a short ram kit with the maximum potential cooling available.

If you’ve made it this far in our guide, you’ll know that we’re relatively biased towards long-tube CAI’s for their performance gains, but as far as short ram kits go, this is one of the best on the market.

Manufacturer description:Take the performance of your vehicle to the next level with the addition of Flowmaster’s new Delta Force Performance Air Intake system for 2008-13 Infiniti G37 with a 3.7L V6 engine. The Delta Force system contains an ultra-trick looking, custom molded black Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) high-flow intake tube, black anodized aluminum fittings (when applicable), high quality reinforced silicone couplers and all stainless steel hardware.

Other features include a large diameter high-flow conical shaped 8 layer cotton gauze air filter, which traps more dirt than typical 6 layer designs, a custom-fit black powder-coated air dam with attachment brackets to securely mount the system in place along with soft bumpers to eliminate any metal to metal contact under the hood. The Delta Force Air Filters are serviceable with our new Delta Force cleaning kits which will help outlast your vehicle. Delta Force Performance Air Intakes are NOT currently legal for use or for sale in the State of California.

AEM Induction G37 Cold Air Intake System

Our comment: AEM offers something a little different with their kit, which sits somewhere in the middle between short ram and long tube, which they claim is capable of providing up to 15hp gains.

This fantastic looking kit is one of the most popular options on the market, mostly for owners that don’t want the inconvenience of trimming or having to remove the bumper for filter maintenance.

One of the best features of this setup is that it utilizes AEM’s Dryflow filters, which can be used up to 100,000 miles without requiring any servicing.

This is a great alternative worth considering for owners that are looking for convenient installation, significant performance gains, and great looks combined with low maintenance.

Manufacturer description:The 21-821DS Performance Cold Air Intake System produces horsepower and torque gains by replacing the restrictive air filter and air intake housing. This air intake system was designed, tuned and dyno-tested to fit specific Infiniti G37 models. This system replaces both the left and right side intakes.

The AEM Dryflow synthetic washable air filter does not require oiling and can be used up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed (depending on driving conditions). The heatshield is a two piece design and also utilizes the factory air ducting. The intake tube is constructed from mandrel bent aluminum and has a durable gray powder coat finish. This air intake system was developed to accommodate the mass air flow sensor and PCV hose.

Injen SP G37 Cold Air Intake System

injen sp cold air infiniti g37 intake

Our comment: Injen’s SP kit typically gets mentioned within the Top 3 CAI’s for the G37, alongside Stillen’s Gen 3 and the Takeda Stage 2 kits.

Like the Takeda kit, this one doesn’t require any trimming, so if that’s likely to put you off, this could be a great choice.

Another beneficial aspect of this kit is that the filters can be removed for servicing without the need to remove the front bumper, unlike Stillen’s Gen 3.

If you’re not keen on working on your car, or the inconvenience of removing your bumper once a year, then this could make the Injen a tempting prospect.

This kit is yet another fantastic option, which quotes 15hp performance gains and is capable of giving the ‘Drifted Choice’ Stillen Gen 3 a run for its money!

If you find the black tubing a little dull, there’s also a polished alternative.

Manufacturer description:Is your engine choking for air and in need of some additional horsepower? If so, Injen has exciting news for you! The SP series of cold air intakes from Injen Technology will allow your engine to breathe deeper and enhance the performance that you’ve been craving. The SP series of cold air intakes is Injen’s flagship system in their lines of traditional aluminum cold air intake systems.

Injen Technology is the world’s first tuned air intake system and holds four patents on the tuning process of an intake system – something no other manufacturer can claim. The SP series of cold air intakes feature many of Injen Technology’s patented tuning process, including MegaRam (MR) Technology, Air Fusion, and many other innovations that keep Injen Technology at the forefront in the performance aftermarket.

K&N Typhoon Cold G37 Air Intake Kit

Our comment: One of the largest manufacturers in filters and intakes delivers the final option in our guide.

Unfortunately, they’ve opted for the short ram method, but you can rest assured that this is one of the best short ram choices, and also comes at a fantastic price.

If you’re looking for improved looks and sound, these look incredibly tidy under the hood. Unfortunately, like the other short ram intakes, we don’t recommend it this kit if you’re chasing the highest-possible performance figures.

Manufacturer description:The restrictive factory air filters and air intake housings are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake system which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intakes.

More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-7078TS air intake comes with dual black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filters and heat shields that install into the previous air box spaces. Air is directed through the intake tubes into the engine’s throttle bodies for a guaranteed power gain.

Luckily for you, we’ve already done the hard work and mentioned which kits require customising. However, if you’ve seen a kit you like, we highly recommend discussing your options with the manufacturer as they may have a convenient solution.

Fast Intentions G37 Turbo Kit

fast intentions g37 turbo kit

Our comment: Fast Intentions have come up with a completely new design as they push the limits with their Twin Turbo kit. Not only have they managed to conquer the 1000WHP barrier with their insane Stage 3 kit on the VQ37VHR, but their setups have also won over many owners with their impressive and reliable turbo options.

The increasingly popular Stage 1 kit features twin Garrett GT2860RS turbochargers capable of an impressive 700+WHP with additional engine modifications. If you’re hunting for even more power, their Stage 2 kit, which is run by Chris Forsberg In Formula Drift, is rated for over 800WHP and Stage 3 at a proven 1,000WHP.

***WARNING*** Although Fast Intentions do not list their G37 kit on the website, we have seen them previously make kits for the car so if you contact them we have no doubt they’ll be happy to help.

Manufacturer description:In 2012 when we took on this project, our goals were clear cut. 1) Address and fix the flaws that the current TT systems on the market had. 2) Create the most reliable and efficient TT system. 3) Raise the power and torque threshold of the VQ37VHR engine.

“We are proud to say that we’ve far exceeded our expectations. Throughout the design process of our TT system, we have adapted and utilized 3D C.A.D. software “Solidworks” to create specific oil and cooling components. This entire TT system is manufactured in the U.S.A.

GReddy G37 Turbo Kit

  • Manufacturer: GReddy
  • Fitment: Nissan 370Z, Z34
  • Turbo configuration: Twin turbo
  • Value for money: ???
  • Purchase link: Buy GReddy VQ37VHR Tuner Kit

Our comment: Undoubtedly, one of the most well-known names in the Japanese tuning scene. This time Greddy have shown their hand with an impressive kit which is capable of pushing out over 850HP with additional engine modifications.

Featuring twin TD06SH-20G twin turbos, this tuner kit comes with a great package to get you started. This is a great quality kit as we’ve always come to expect from GReddy products and many owners have successfully had impressive power figures and reliability from it.

At the time of review, it unfortunately appears that GReddy has now discontinued their turbo kit, however, it’s still available to purchase from Rev Works. For this reason, we have opted to give it 3* since future customers may struggle to find replacements for specific parts at a later date.

***WARNING*** Alongside being discontinued, GReddy never made a specific G37 kit. For this reason we recommend talking with a local specialist regarding modification to make this kit bolt onto your G37.

Manufacturer description:Introducing the latest addition to Greddy’s line of Tuner Turbo Kits, the VQ37VHR twin-turbo system boasts an impressive 175 horsepower increase at a mere 6.4psi of boost.

“Greddy provides the hardware to make the power, but the tuning components are left up to you to give you the best options. With additional engine work and tuning, this tuner kit has the potential of making 850 plus horsepower just as Greddy was able to achieve on their TT 350Z HR.

aam g37 turbo kit

  • Manufacturer: AAM
  • Fitment: Infiniti G37
  • Turbo configuration: Twin turbo
  • Value for money: ?????
  • Purchase link: Buy your AAM G37 Turbo Kit

Our comment: U.S. based AAM introduced their offering in 2014 using new twin-turbos from their partnership with BorgWarner. This quickly became one of the most sought-after offerings and to this day quite possibly the most commonly found kit amongst G37 owners.

Combining impressive power figures of up to 500HP per turbo and an OEM-style fitment combined with reliability and impressive build quality, it’s easy to see why the kit has maintained its popularity and praise.

AAM can give themselves a pat on the back for coming out with this fantastic G37-specific kit which is the highest regarded option on the market.

  • Manufacturer: STS
  • Fitment: Nissan 370Z, Z34
  • Turbo configuration: Rear mounted single turbo
  • Value for money: ???
  • Purchase link: Buy the STS VQ37VHR Turbo Kit

Our comment: STS are well-known in the tuning scene for their work on muscle cars. This time, they have brought this unique rear-mounted single turbo offering to the market for those of you who are looking for something a little different.

Some owners have mentioned that the front-mount intercooler is a little on the small side, and if you’re looking for a larger one it comes at an additional price. It appears to be an extremely easy kit to fit, even with basic knowledge. However, after hearing about potential issues with piping such as rust problems with methanol injection. We highly recommend you speak with the manufacturer regarding to see if they can offer a solution before purchasing.

***WARNING*** This kit is specifically made for the 370Z, however there are many G37’s currently running the STS kit, so we also highly recommend discussing with them if you’re after a rear-mount turbo setup.

Manufacturer description:At only 5.5psi we are getting over 400 rwhp. That’s 125 more than stock! With methanol injection you can safely make over 500rwhp! We also offer numerous turbo upgrades that will support up to 950chp!

“The average install time for this kit is between 8 & 12 hours depending on options. The ONLY modifications to the vehicle is drilling a small hole for a clamp and cutting a small ear off the plastic radiator support to allow an intake pipe to be installed. If you can install a cat back exhaust and a cold air intake, then you can install this kit by following the detailed full-color instruction manual.

Our comment: Another company that created a unique offering for the G37 is SFR. They gained a huge following in the 350Z world with their DE offerings, however, they’ve seemingly gained little traction with their G37 turbo kit. As expected from SFR, it seems to be another fanatastic choice but with little popularity.

If you feel that going with a reputable company with good customer support suits you, we recommend speaking with SFR or TurboKits directly to get more details on this kit.

Manufacturer description:This system fits automatics and manual transmissions. The front aluminum crash bar can be retained.

“Automatic car is capable of running 450-500WHP on the stock engine. Six Speed car is capable of 550-600WHP on 10psi of boost.

Our winner

Our winner is the AAM Turbo Kit.

To pick our winner from this choice of G37 turbo kits we looked at a number of criteria; direct fitment, ease of installation, power levels, upgrade potential and price point.

Based on these criteria we have chosen the AAM Turbo Kit to be our winner.

AAM G37 Turbo Kit

aam g37 turbo kit

AAM have come out with this unique offering specficially for the G37. Although Fast Intentions won our 370Z guide and is still a fantastic offering, the lack of off-the-shelf kit has handed AAM the win this time round.

With a fantastic kit and impressive gains, it’s easy to see why so many G-series owners have opted for running the AAM turbo kits which have also boasted impressive reliability over time.

We highly recommend that further research is done based on our guide. There are often additional parts, tunes or upgrades for base-level turbo that may be either vital or purely suit your preferences.

Looking to turn your Infiniti G37 into a boosted street or track weapon? Not sure where to start? We’ve got you covered!

Infiniti G37 Stillen supercharger kit

When the Infiniti G37 was launched, Nissan’s premium brand undoubtedly aimed at the higher end of the market. With a high price bracket and comfort and style in mind, the possibility of modifying one was a pipe dream for your everyday car enthusiasts.

Now, with a huge slash taken off the retail price over the years, the G37 has stood the test of time and can now be owned at an extremely affordable price point, offering an incredible everyday car once modified.

However, what if you’re looking to get that little more out of the V6 engine on the track, or even the road? Superchargers are known as the perfect way to extract a substantial amount of missing power from your engine.

Tuning houses from across the world have been handed the opportunity to squeeze the missing ponies out of the VQ37VHR and they’ve done an incredibly good job in the process, we’re now going to show you the kits on offer to unleash the potential!

STILLEN to the rescue

Stillen initially had competition from GTM/Gamma Motorsport in the G37 supercharging scene, however with the latter failing to stay in business, it’s safe to say that former 300ZX racing legend Steve Millen’s ‘STILLEN’ option is by far the best choice available on the market.

For those of you who don’t know already, Steve Millen is also the uncle of Formula Drift Champion Rhys Millen.

Take a quick look at Steve Millen’s legendary 300ZX which handed him the most all-time wins in IMSA GTS history with 20 victories.

“Looking to extract more horsepower and torque from your G37, 370Z or Q50? How does around 380HP at the wheels grab you?”

Since we assume you’ve already done the necessary upgrades to get the most out of your G37, such as a free-flowing exhaust, air intake, or maybe a set of coilovers? After power? A supercharger could well be the perfect compliment to end your quest for additional power!

With their G37 kit opting for the Vortech V3 centrifugal supercharger which is capable of reaching over 500 horsepower (with supporting mods), the 50-state emissions compliant intercooled setup is available for purchase at Enjuku Racing for just $7,495.

Check out this awesome video where THE DRIVE head to the the STILLEN factory to drive their fully custom 500hp Nissan 370Z which also features the G37’s VQ37 engine:

Deciding your options

Since the above option comes with a cable enabling you to put the preset tuning method onto your ECU, you also have the option of a non-cable version of their polished-look supercharger kit if you want to get tuning done locally which is available for $6,795, here.

Power on tap

One of the best things about the kit is that the setup to gift your G37 with boosted goodness is straightforward with their off-the-shelf parts and a typical install time of just 12 hours.

“Scenery gets blurry-in-a-hurry as the centrifugal Vortech blower spins up to hyperspeed with a telltale hiss.”

If you’re on a quest for big power, the Vortech V3 is more than capable of reaching over 500 horsepower with 9psi of intercooled boost pressure whilst delivering compressor efficiencies above 75%.

The V3 also benefits from a self-contained oiling system which is completely independent from the engine’s lubrication system.

The beast in action

We’ve searched the web to bring you some of the best offerings to decide whether supercharging is the ideal route for you.

Varying from dyno to full car reviews, we have no doubt that these videos will help you make your mind up!

Tell me more!

Now that you’ve enjoyed the videos you’re probably more tempted than ever to supercharge your G37. Here’s some more helpful information from the manufacturer regarding their off-the-shelf kit from Enjuku Racing:

“Looking to extract more horsepower and torque from your G37, 370Z or Q50? How does around 380HP at the wheels grab you?”

“Add a dose of torque, better-than-stock heat management and airflow, 50 state emissions compliance and near stock fuel economy at low RPM. Now you’ve got the formula for superchargers done the STILLEN way.”

“We’re talking driveable horsepower too, suitable for daily drivers, canyon carvers and track days.”

“What does ‘driveable’ mean? Take an unsuspecting passenger for a low RPM cruise around town in your STILLEN supercharged Infiniti G37, Nissan 370Z or Infiniti Q50. Keep a light touch on the gas pedal and they might be fooled into thinking there’s a bone stock motor under the hood.”

“They won’t suspect a thing….until you hit the town limit sign and crack the throttle wide open.”

“Scenery gets blurry-in-a-hurry as the centrifugal Vortech blower spins up to hyperspeed with a telltale hiss. The STILLEN designed and built intake manifold sucks in cubic yards of cool air. The remapped ECU fuel management module jacks the boosted fuel pump to inject the precise amount of high octane cocktail into the maelstrom.”

“Your right foot is orchestrating a symphony of controlled violence that delivers a linear, bottomless powerband. If you can peel your head off the headrest to sneak a glance at your passenger you’ll see instant enlightenment and heavy G’s at work.”

g37 Stillen supercharger tuning kit

The design

“STILLEN designed a new cast aluminium intake manifold specifically for this system, featuring longer runners and a large plenum for the engine to draw air. An integrated air-to-water intercooler system dramatically cools the air charge from the Vortech V-3 Supercharger unit.”

“The V-3 features a self-contained oiling system and quiet V-belt design, with plenty of additional boost capability for those wanting even more power down the road.”

“STILLEN took extreme care in designing this system, ensuring that all additional coolers (oil, transmission, power steering, etc) would work with the intercooler system, as the Nissan VQ37 engine is prone to high oil temperatures unless properly cooled.”

“At all levels of development the system was tested, both for street drivability and reliability under normal traffic and freeway conditions. Stillen drivers flogged the test car at El Toro Air Base, with repeated 140+ mph runs and hard driving on tight courses with excessive revving and redlining. Testing included extensive monitoring of all pertinent air and fluid temperatures.”

“They won’t suspect a thing… Until you hit the town limit sign and crack the throttle wide open.”

Cable or non-cable?

“To tune these supercharger systems STILLEN works with UPRev software. This software requires a license and a cable to load the tune into the vehicle’s ECU. The With Cable option is designed for customers who may not live near an UPrev certified tuner or for a dealership who is completing the installation. This is also a great solution for the DIY guy looking to install the kit in his garage.”

“The “without cable” option is supplied with all of the hardware and the tune. This solution is good for someone who is working with an UPrev pro tuner that already has the licenses and loading cable in their facility. This way you don’t need to pay extra for something you might already have access to. Either way, the tune is the same.”

Ease of installation

“One of the hallmarks of a STILLEN supercharger is ease of installation. Much of the assembly of the kit is completed here at STILLEN before we pack and ship your supercharger. The main supercharger unit is pre-assembled to the laser-cut billet aluminium mounting brackets. Installation is very straight forward, including detailed step-by-step instructions. Typical install time for a competent shop is 12 hours.”

It could be said that when Nissan’s Luxury car brand, Infiniti, released the G37 to the market, adjustable suspension probably wasn’t their main priority. Sure, you may well have the more-refined suspension from the ‘Sport’ package, but let’s be honest, we know there’s far more potential.

Drivers such as Robbie Nishida and Charles NG demonstrated just how the G37 can be driven in Formula Drift, so what’s stopping you from utilising the most that this car can offer?

With the G37 at a more affordable price-point than ever, there are serious bargains to be had now that someone has taken a hit with the deprecation on your behalf.

Whether you’re into stance, looking for more refined handling, hitting the track or purely want the adjustability that coilovers have to offer, we’ve created this guide just for you.

Let’s take a look at our Infiniti G37 coilover selection

These offer a firm, but not crashy ride which is still ideal for street use and are more than capable for the money when you head to the track. BC also offer their higher-end ‘ER’ series coilovers which are a competitior for the KW V3’s if you’re intending to do mostly track use.

Our comment: This entry-level option may suit those on a budget who are purely looking to improve their ride height and handling. We found that the build quality and finish was reflected in the price and would personally recommend forking out that little bit extra to purchase the BC BR coilovers that are closer to our mid-range offerings.

Our comment: Legendary Japanese tuning company HKS bring their hand with the highest price tag of our list. This option combines fantastic ride comfort which is close to stock comfort levels and fantastic handling alongside the typical quality you would expect from HKS.

These are a serious competitor for the KW V3’s and this may just boil down to personal preference, especially if you’re keen to maintain the JDM aspect on your car.

Manufacturer description:With the Hipermax III suspension series, the driver gains increased wheel control with improved performance of all vehicle dynamics and increased driver command in all conditions. Hipermax III combines track-quality control with excellent ride and handling characteristics at real-world street speeds.

With the Hipermax III’s range of adjustability, precise corner balancing can be achieved. Chrome-plated cylinder shafts provide excellent durability and newly-design rubber upper mounts reduce harshness.

Our winner

Our winner is the highly acclaimed KW Variant 3 coilover.

It was a close call between the superb HKS Hipermax III and the KW V3’s, but with no way of faulting the hugely popular KW’s, they’re undoubtedly the best bang for your buck purchase on our list but either option certainly won’t disappoint!

KW Variant 3 G37 Coilovers

kw variant 3 g37 coilovers

For those with a serious budget who are looking to get the best lap times available, we have no doubt that the KW V3’s will be the ulimate choice. HKS Hipermax III and the BC Racing ER’s are undoubtedly fantastic alternatives if there’s any reason you would prefer to not go with the KW offering.

Runner-up

Another set of coilovers which really stood out during our research of this article were our budget-offering – BC Racing BR’s. At under $1k, we struggle to believe you will be able to find a better coilover out there for the money. If you’re still intending to make further upgrades to your car and looking for a cheaper alternative, we have no doubt that the BR’s will be perfect for your needs.
