Now that Lexus IS300’s are an absolute bargain, these great all-rounders are becoming increasingly popular in the tuning scene and owners are keen to replace the quiet, relaxing ride for something that’ll snap some necks on the streets.
Whether you’re just looking to improve the looks and sound of your IS or considering a turbo upgrade to create the ultimate street sleeper, this guide has everything you’ll need to know for choosing your exhaust.
The 2JZ-GE engine is built to last and withstand high power, but you can’t expect to get huge gains from simply fitting an exhaust. For that reason, we’d highly recommend prioritizing the exhaust option that you most like the look and sound of.
If you’re considering turbocharging, you’ll want the best-flowing kit available, but expect that to also come with some extra noise to achieve the maximum power gains.
We do highly recommend upgrading your suspension if you haven’t already, this will give you far superior handling to the old, worn out stock shocks and springs. Make sure you take a look at our coilover guide.
We’ve given you all the information you’re going to need, along with images, prices, and videos. Make sure you realize that several modifications can be made to an exhaust from the header to the muffler, so don’t expect every video to be completely stock with just an exhaust added.
IS300 exhaust selection
Now that you know what to look for, let’s take a look at our IS300 exhaust selection.

- Primary exhaust system material: Stainless steel
- Fitment: Lexus IS300

- Our comment: The A’PEXi N1 is definitely a popular choice with owners, featuring a deep idle which turns into an aggressive bark in the higher RPM’s. With great fitment combined with the typical APEX’i quality, this is definitely a great all-rounder for those who don’t mind an exhaust on the louder side.
- Manufacturer description: “In the N-1 Endurance Race, efficiency is everything. With that in mind, the N-1 exhaust systems were born to satisfy the want for quick throttle response and to effectively handle the rigorous demands of high-horsepower engines. - Tailpipe configuration: 115mm (4.5″) tip
- Primary exhaust system material: Stainless steel
- Fitment: Lexus IS300
- Manufacturer: GReddy
- Value for money: ?????
- Our comment: Featuring a 3″ diameter, this is a great flowing exhaust for those who are looking for power gains or considering a turbo upgrade eventually. It is a louder option than some of our offerings which may not suit you for daily driving, however, they have specifically tried to reduce the idling and cruising volume levels, but expect to wake up the neighborhood at full throttle!
- Manufacturer description: “The Revolution RS for the Lexus IS300 unleashes great power gains, with excellent sound properties, through a high performance Catback layout. Sound levels at idle and cursing are surprisingly low, while at WOT (wide open throttle) the inline 6 cylinder sound of the IS300 is dramatically enhanced. The large 3″ diameter also makes it ideal for additional upgrades and/or boost. - Our comment: The Japanese tuning legends present their first exhaust in our guide. Owners will know that this needs absolutely no introduction and are quite possibly the most sought after exhausts available. Titanium is used for the construction of the muffler with a carbon wrap to make it look even more impressive. We love the sound and looks of this, and the price isn’t too extortionate either!

- Our comment: Are you keen for the notorious Tanabe quality, but the Medalion is just a little bit too quiet for your tastes? That’s where the Concept G comes into the market. With a more aggressive styling and tone, this will provide a much deeper sound with higher performance benefits. Despite being deeper, it’s still not too loud and still sits within the 93dB threshold.

Which Lexus IS300 exhaust is our winner?
Japanese tuning house HKS have once again forced themselves to the top of our list. With incredible sound, quality and looks at a reasonable price point, the Carbon-Ti exhaust is our personal favourite.
Luckily for IS300 owners, HKS released an extremely similar product at a better price point in the Hi-Power option, so that should definitely be a consideration for those of you on a lower budget.
If you’re looking for a bargain, the Manzo exhaust has to be a strong consideration. At a price point of $220, you are going to seriously struggle to get better value for money from a brand new product.
For those of you considering adding a turbocharger to your 2JZ now, or later, the GReddy Revolution offers a 3″ diameter for increased exhaust flow. Be prepared for it to be loud, but expect to achieve maximum performance.
If you’re looking for a quiet setup, the Tanabe Touring offers a great sound and the Blitz Nur Spec certainly can’t be beaten for value.
